There are two applications you are required to complete for this Program. The Collegiate LT assessment with Reliant and the application for employment at the YMCA of the Rockies. Acceptance as an employee of the YMCA is mandatory for participation in the Program.

A large part of the LT Program is your employment with our partner in Estes Park, The YMCA of the Rockies. Having a full-time job as a part of LT provides a place for you to earn money while in the program and being hired by and working for the Y is a key and required part of LT.

From a ministry perspective, working at the Y provides both a close-knit community of both believers to work with and a place to reach out to spiritual seekers that you work with and will encounter in your time at the Y. We think the chances to talk during work and adventure together while living in tight knit community allows for deeper growth than almost anywhere else.

And on top of all of that, working at this YMCA is a coveted summer work experience for people all around the world (Many countries are represented each summer)!

HOW DOES EMPLOYMENT AT THE YMCA WORK?

The YMCA of the Rockies- Estes Park Center (EPC) employs all of our participants and houses them in their dorms. The YMCA pays at least Colorado minimum wage for a 40 hour work week. Each week, there is a portion (The Rocky Mountain Living Package) of your paycheck will be applied to pay for food and housing. Since LT is a missions project, you have the (encouraged) option to raise support to gain this portion back. Every worker is guaranteed at least 40 hours per week. You also get access to the YMCA’s resources and other perks as seasonal staff.  In addition, there may be opportunities to work overtime at a higher rate of compensation.

At the YMCA’s discretion, there may be an opportunity for Program participants to stay on and continue to work with the YMCA after the Program has officially ended. Please note: A participant’s continuation of employment with the YMCA after the end of the Program is solely between the participant and the YMCA and is fully independent of Reliant Mission and Estes Park Leadership Training; No Program leadership will be present or available, and the participant is solely under the care and leadership of the employer (the YMCA).

DOES LT GUARANTEE EMPLOYMENT?

The Program cannot guarantee anyone a job for the summer. In fact, your participation in the Program requires that you personally apply for and receive employment from the YMCA of the Rockies. Your hiring is completely up to the YMCA. Make sure that you take interviews with the YMCA seriously and hold to your work agreement dates.
